Since my start as social media and photography intern in January 2014, the Chico State’s Facebook page gained more than 8,000 likes, totaling at roughly 22,500 at the end of my fall 2014 semester.
Part of the social media strategy was posting once per day on Facebook, two to three times each day on Twitter, once a week on the blog and at least one post per day on Instagram. The goal of these posts was to inform students, alums and parents of upcoming events and deadlines. One of the most important tasks was to be engaging and start a conversation on social media. This was done through campaigns, videos and featuring peers on social media outlets.
